Following the exciting update in last month’s Digest regarding the arrival of an additional member of the Museum of Philately team Isobel Klempka, who has joined Marcus Orsi and Devlan Kruck bringing additional impetus to this wonderful project, we have more exciting news this month that a world renowned philatelist and collection has been added to the Museum of Philately.

Anatoly Karpov

Anatoly Karpovwho is one of the World’s greatest, and best known Chess players, has agreed to appear within the Museum and display the collection of Belgium material which David Feldman SA sold in four auctions from 2011 to 2013. It’s a fantastic example of the Museum’s ability to preserve what was one of the greatest collections of early Belgium stamps and postal history ever assembled.

The collection is available via the App and upon the website and is presented in three individual exhibits covering the early adhesives and postal history of Belgium. The collection is displayed as follows:

1) 1849 Epaulettes,

2) The Médaillon,

3) 1865-1866 Exhibition.

And to promote the publishing of Anatoly Karpov’s world class Belgium collection, and the inclusion of his biography, the Museum of Philately has launched a brand new series of articles to celebrate the achievements of top flight philatelists. This series is called, ‘The World’s Greatest Philatelists of the Twenty-First Century’, and Anatoly Karpov is kick starting this initiative, becoming the very first philatelist to be honoured in this innovative format.

You will shortly be able to read the article about Anatoly Karpov called, ‘The King’s Gambit’ on the Museum of Philately’s own blog page.

News updates will be published on a monthly basis via the David Feldman SA Digest and coming soon you will have the opportunity to sign-up for the Museum of Philately’s own Newsletter. Watch this space for further details.
