It’s been an exciting month in the David Feldman office with the key headlines being that Marcus Orsi was appointed to the Vice Chairman position of the Philatelic Traders Society (PTS), Ricky Verra being recognised as a young and talented philatelist by the PTS in a campaign called “The Ones to Watch – Philately under 40”, and members of the David Feldman team announcing they will be participating in two UK stamp fairs during January. Plus, we are delighted to be able to also announce that we are able to visit the US and Canada with the relaxing of travel restrictions, and in February 2022, Fernando Martínez, Guy Croton and Marcus Orsi will be traveling to America and Canada to meet with customers and clients. Here’s a bit more about these positive reports….
Vice Chairman appointment
So firstly, Marcus has been involved with the PTS for several years being part of the organisation’s ‘Council’ where he has helped the management team of the PTS to set strategies and make decisions. This has been during a testing time as the PTS is responsible for the organising of the Stampex show, and as we all know over the last two years such ‘physical’ events have had to be cancelled and in response to these set-backs the PTS innovatively launch two ‘virtual’ Stampex events (October 2020 and March 2021) in the height of restrictions before putting on the real event again in October last year, and at the same time implementing a new look show which included a UK national exhibition. Marcus has been appointed to support the newly installed PTS Chairman, Simon Carson, who was previously the vice chairman of the PTS. We wish Marcus all the best with his involvement with this important industry society.
Rising Star in Philately

And it was within the PTS handbook launch at Autumn Stampex 2021 that featured Ricky Verra as a talented young philatelist. Over recent years their handbook has had a two page feature to, in their words, ‘celebrate the bright young sparks’ in the stamp industry, and Ricky was one of six philatelists from around the world who received the prestigious accolade of being amongst the ones to watch who are under 40. Ricky commented in the handbook that; “Philately is not just my profession, it’s my passion. I spend many an evening, weekend and holiday working upon my own collection. But philately is also a sociable pastime, which is why events such as Stampex are great because a big part of the hobby is relationships you build when you meet clients, attend society meetings, or having a beer with other dealers at the end of the day.” Ricky, who joined David Feldman in April 2009, is a member of the Royal Philatelic Society London, the Great Britain Philatelic Society and the GB Overprint Society, the latter of which he is the editor of their quarterly Journal. Ricky also, following Stampex last year, attended and exhibited at the West Africa Study and the Cape and Natal Study Circles’ meeting held in Reading. We congratulate Ricky on his well deserved recognition, and are proud of his involvement and contribution in the wider philatelic community. Keep up the good work Ricky!
David Feldman at UK stamp fair during January
No sooner have we all clinked glasses and made our resolutions than we have the opportunity to meet friends, colleagues and clients at stamp fairs happening in the UK during January. David Feldman is delighted to be participating at the the York Stamp and Coin fair.
York Stamp & Coin fair
Ricky Verra and Guy Croton are teaming up to meet you again at this long-established stamp show after the 2 year hiatus caused by COVID. The fair starts on Friday 21st January 2022 at 10am and lasts for 2 full days, being held at the York Racecourse. You will find Ricky and Guy in our usual position on stand 12. For more information about the fair, including directions, please see the official website.
And it is worth noting here that we will be at the London 2022 International Show, being held at the London Business Design Center, Islington, London, which begins on Saturday 19th to Saturday 26th February 2022. More information will be in our February Monthly Digest.
David Feldman SA Travel to the USA and Canada
And finally, we are excited to be able to announce that travel to the USA and Canada is now possible and we are visiting clients and customers in America and Canada, February 2022!
The plan is that our Senior Philatelists Marcus Orsi and Guy Croton will be travelling to meet clients throughout the USA and Fernando Martínez, our Managing Director, will be in North America and available to meet clients on the East Coast. Guy will also be visiting Canada and this trip is to meet with clients who we have not been able to visit over the last two years, and to meet with new customers and explore potential business opportunities.
Notwithstanding the inability to make these important visits over recent years, demand for established stamp collections is extremely high among our international clientele and so our team are therefore investing the time to be available to value collections or philatelic estates, and individual items with a view to consigning material for our June auction schedule, and discuss the very best solution for anyone considering selling philatelic material. If you might be interested in selling or having a valuation then we’d like to organise a meeting during our planned trip. While we have a long-established reputation for obtaining record prices for international collections and rarities, we can also handle USA collections.
If you own, or have inherited, a potentially valuable collection and wish to take advantage of the demand in the market and our trip to the US and Canada, please contact us to discuss how we may assist you. We look forward to meeting in the flesh customers old and new.
