The Only Italian Postal Value Recorded Accepted by the German Post Office (lot #20560) & the Only Georgia-Italy Mixed Franking According to the Postal Agreement (lot #20696).
One of the highlights of the week-long specialised auction series will be the catalogue dedicated to the most comprehensive collection ever of Italian postal history abroad, formed by Valter Alstofi. This is without doubt a unique collection, which would be exceedingly difficult to replicate with any other European country. The Valter Astolfi study travels back in time to the Italian presence in the “Grande Armée” of Napoleon, through to the naval intervention in Crete at the end of the 19th Century, the Boxer War and the Italian presence in China up until WWII, the Russo-Japanese War, the contingents sent to Murmansk and Siberia during the Russian Civil War, and to the Italian occupations in WWII, among other historical events that are also covered in this spectacular and comprehensive assemblage.

All the lots will be available to view at our office in Geneva from June 13th. Special viewing can be arranged by appointment. The lots of the Great-Britain and British Empire catalogue will also be shown in London at the beginning of June (date and venue to be confirmed).
